After years of watching Europe get all the interesting diesel-powered cars, I'm hoping the US gets a chance.
And I'm tired of seeing either diesel pickup trucks, or small European car diesels.
How about something I can really use: A diesel minivan!

Diesels have not turned green, neither eco-friendly.
This may be declared for CO2 emissions...
But Diesels also reject particules. The smallest ones ( < 2.5um) are the most dangerous.
In France, more than 50% of vehicules are Diesels (including personal cars) due to low tax on gasoline.
At the moment, we suffer from particule over-thershold alert in Lyon ( http://maps.google.fr/maps?f=q&hl=fr&geocode=&q=lyon&ie=UTF8&ll=45.799606,4.834671&spn=0.182867,0.456619&t=h&z=11&iwloc=addr ). It happens many days a month in all french big cities. Moreover, the mean particule concentration is continuously increasing.
To reduce particules emissions, 2 solutions at the moment:
1- reinject particules in the engine to be burned, but the process is very sensitive. It should be adjusted regularly... and it is not.
2- filter particules, but only the bigest are stopped... and the most dangerous are not!!
Conclusion: no Diesels in towns!!!
